Self-Study: Acting Showreel Research

Before this research, I looked at acting techniques used by actors but this time I would like to analyze one of the showreels which I watched. Today it will be Acting Showreel by Natasha Arancini.

I would start with saying that it is indeed a professional showreel because it contains scenes from movies or TV series. I would really like to have such showreel in the future and for that I need to get more experience in professional field.

Returning back to the showreel, for me it is a great example of showcasing actor’s skills as it should be. The showreel lasts only 2 and a half minutes but during this time I saw the actor in very different genres and emotions. I think it will work great for casting directors because they usually don't watch much so they need to see everything you can in a short period of time.

The showreel started with an action scene which really made me be interested and caught my attention. However, even after that the scenes were not boring as the transitions were quite quick.

I also noticed that there were totally different genres. In one scene it could be historical drama and another one could be modern action or thriller which also tells about actor'a diversity and ability to perform something totally different.

As for me, editing is very good, all the transitions were fine, it was quick but at the same time it allowed to see actor's skills. I think the names of the roles and movies could be added as well in case people are interested to watch it all.

In overall, I found this showreel the best one which I watched before, because it was really active and interesting to watch. I also got some ideas of how to make my one better.
